The Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT), UK, a non-profit organization promoting trade, research and technology development throughout Europe, is organizing two one-day seminars addressing latest developments in aid programmes for Central and Eastern European countries.

The first of the two seminars will focus on "New priorities for aid programmes for Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union". This will be held in London, UK, on 31 October 1997.

The seminar will provide an update on changes in the European Union's PHARE programme, which has been completely restructured in line with the EU accession strategy. It will also include information on the EU's TACIS programme, the programmes of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the assistance schemes operated by the UK's "Know How" Fund. Practical experience and advice on how to win contracts will be provided through case studies of successful projects. The seminar will be of benefit to a wide range of companies from the private and public sectors who are interested in taking part in technical assistance projects in Eastern Europe.

The second seminar, which will be held on 28 November 1997, also in London, will provide a comprehensive overview of the aid programmes for Bosnia and Hercegovina. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the major aid programmes, the seminar will focus in particular on the PHARE and TACIS Democracy Programme, the EU training programmes for Bosnia and other initiatives intended to assist economic recovery and promote civil society in Bosnia and Hercegovina. The seminar will be of interest to any organization wishing to build links with Bosnia and take part in aid-funded projects.
