The Sixth International Symposium on Intelligent Robotic Systems will take place in Edinburgh, UK, from 21 to 23 July 1998. Supported by the Community's Training and Mobility of Researchers (TMR) programme, the event will cover all modern approaches to robotics problems.

The main topics to be covered will be:

- Mobile robotics;
- Active perception;
- 3D reconstruction;
- Learning and control;
- Cooperation;
- Control architectures;
- Robotic applications;
- Planning and plan execution;
- Fuzzy and neural networks;
- Techniques for control;
- Miniature robotics.

The organizers are currently seeking extended abstracts (four pages) of papers for presentation at the conference. Papers should fall under, but are not limited to, one of the above topics. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 9 March 1998.
