Patents and patent information in Belgium

A one-day symposium on "Patents and patent information in Belgium" will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 11 December 1997. The symposium is organized by the Belgian Patent Office, the European Patent Office (EPO) and the Belgian Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The aim of the event is to promote the use of patents and patent information in Belgium as a means of fostering innovation. The main topics to be addressed are:

- Presentation of the patent policies of Belgian universities, research centres and SMEs;
- Presentation of the activities of the European Commission to promote the use of patents;
- Presentation of the activities of the EPO and the Belgian Patent Office in the field of patent information;
- Workshops dedicated to patent information products and the patent system in general.

Presentations will be given by representatives from the European Commission, the European Patent Office, the Belgian Patent Office, industry, universities and the patent attorney profession.
