From multimedia services to network services

A COST workshop, "From multimedia services to network services", will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 15 to 19 December 1997.

The workshop is the fourth in the series organized within the framework of COST Action 237, which aims to present on-going research and encourage exchanges of experience. In general the series focuses on new and innovative applied research work rather than very theoretical analysis. The 1997 workshop will focus on how user and application requirements are served by the communication system. Emphasis will be placed on architectural and implementation aspects. The main topics to be addressed are:

- Multimedia communications environments;
- Middleware;
- Mobile agents;
- Multimedia applications;
- Resource control;
- The future of COST 237;
- Group communication;
- IP/ATM quality of service.
