ELECTRONIC COMMERCE '98 - Distributed systems for electronic commerce
The main focus of EC'98 will be to present and discuss the latest results and experiences, in both industrial and academic system and application software development, in this specific Internet sector - one of the most important application areas of distributed systems technology today.
The conference is divided into two streams:
- 1. The Research Forum: Contributions should cover requirements, experiences, implementation reports and ongoing development and research work in the field of Electronic Commerce with a distributed systems background.
- 2. The Industrial Forum: In particular, the planned industrial stream of the conference intends to bring together providers as well as users of electronic commerce systems. This includes, for example, companies with the following backgrounds:
. Online billing and payment systems;
. Developers of home banking systems and applications;
. Online services providers;
. EDI software providers;
. Software and IT companies that develop EC infrastructures and solutions;
. EC software users from the trading and retailing sector;
. Publishing and media companies that use EC systems;
. Telecommunications service providers;
. Providers and users of "Electronic Mall" software;
. Industrial research projects in EC with an international scope.
Topics of special interest include, but are not restricted to:
- Economic market models and foundations;
- Architectures for electronic marketplaces;
- Business transaction support;
- EDI vs. Internet;
- Workflow management for electronic markets;
- System support for distributed applications;
- Platforms: WWW, COBRA, Java, and beyond;
- Intelligent agents and multi-agent systems;
- Mobile computing and mobile agent systems;
- Trading and information brokerage;
- Service specification, quality of service;
- Security & payment functions;
- Multimedia shopping malls and kiosk systems;
- Distributed digital library applications.
Contributions relating to the above areas are currently being invited from potential electronic commerce service providers and users, as well as researchers and implementers of emerging electronic commerce systems or components. All submissions must be sent by 8 December 1997 at the latest.
