European Commission - Information Services and Sources Meeting
The first part of the meeting will present the latest developments in the EU's major on-line information services. These include:
- CORDIS, the Community R&D Information Service;
- I'M Europe and ECHO, DG XIII services which focus on the development of the information market;
- The commercial Eurobases services managed by Eur-OP;
- EUROSTAT's statistical information services.
Information on developments in Community programmes in the field will be the focus of the second part of the meeting. Commission officials will outline recent developments in the INFO2000 programme, which aims to encourage the development and use of multimedia content in Europe, and the Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme. Information on calls for proposals under these two programmes, due to be launched in December 1997, will also be provided. Details of activities in the field under the Fifth Framework Programme, due to be launched at the end of 1998, will be outlined by a Commission official.
All the Commission's information services will also be featured on the EU stand at Online Information '97, which runs from 9 to 11 December 1997.
