The ESPRIT programme's "Technologies for Business Processes" (TBP) conference 1998 will be held in Genova, Italy, on 24-26 June 1998. The conference, "Competing in the Information Society - New ways of doing business", provides a major European venue for the exchange of information on using information technology and electronic commerce to support business transformation.

The aims of the conference are to:

- Disseminate information on ongoing work in the TBP domain;
- Raise awareness of the potential for applying advanced information technology to support innovation in the way European companies do business;
- Stimulate closer cooperation between industry and the research community.

The event will bring together delegates from a wide variety of industries and sectors, all of whom share an interest in using information technology as a better way of doing business in the Information Society. The three-day programme will provide a mixture of plenary sessions with leading-edge keynote speakers and in-depth parallel sessions. It will feature real-life case studies focusing on business processes, IT tools and technologies and organizational management.
