The European Business Angels Network Conference will be held in Torquay, United Kingdom, on 12 and 13 February 1998. Supported by the European Commission and the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the event will examine how Business Angel finance can be exploited across Europe.

Business Angel Networks provide contacts between SMEs which need finance and management expertise and investors who are willing to invest their capital, skill and energy into the business in return for a share of the equity. This type of informal investment is very successful in the USA, where private investors provide twenty times more venture capital than professional organizations.

The conference aims to explore the potential of this resource and how it can be most effectively exploited across Europe. A range of presentations will outline the main aspects of Business Angel schemes, whilst workshops will examine the practical aspects of setting up and running a Business Angel Network.
