A seminar on "Commercial exploitation of technology - the routes to market" will take place in Luxembourg on 26 and 27 January 1998. The event is organized by TII - Technology, Innovation, Information, Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg IRC, and the Euro Info Centre for Trier, with support from the Community's INNOVATION programme.

The seminar will examine the possible choices for a researcher with a new technology to be exploited. Participants will look first at the conditions which will make such a new technology exploitable and at the intellectual property concerns attached. The second day will look at the alternative routes to exploitation:

- Licensing;
- Joint venture;
- Creation of a company.

Speakers will outline the advantages and disadvantages of these options in different situations, and how to choose between them. Participants will have the chance to test out these options in group sessions using case studies.
