The Sixth FECS Conference on Chemistry in the Environment will be held in Copenhagen Denmark, on 26-28 August 1998. The conference, organized by the Federation of European Chemical Societies (FECS) in collaboration with the major Danish organizations active in this field, will address the specific issue of "Atmospheric chemistry and air pollution".

The purpose of the conference is to bring together scientists from different areas within atmospheric chemistry and air pollution to discuss current knowledge and future developments. The main topics to be addressed will include:

- Volatile organic compounds;
- Oxidants/NOx;
- Particulates.

On each of these main topics there will be sessions on the following sub-topics:

- Anthropogenic and biogenic sources;
- Measurements of air quality and emissions;
- Atmospheric chemistry;
- Effects on vegetation and human health;
- Pollution prevention and regulation.

Modelling is considered an integral part of each topic.
