European Business and Innovation Centres - Annual Congress 1998

The seventh annual congress of the European Business and Innovation Centres (BICs) will be held in Joensuu, Finland, on 4-5 June 1998. The congress is organized by the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN), in collaboration this year with its Finnish members and sponsors.
The concept of the Business Innovation Centre was originally developed by DG XVI - Regional policy and cohesion - of the European Commission. The BIC network, which now comprises some 150 BICs, has proved its soundness as a regional economic development instrument in many European regions.
The Congress will provide an ideal opportunity to gain an insight into the current and future potential of the network. Working methods and instruments will be reviewed and updated, and participants will have the opportunity to meet with other regional and development players and to form and consolidate professional relationships.
