A conference on "Industrial technologies in the Fifth Framework Programme" will be held in London, UK, on 27 February 1998. The event is organized by the Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT), in cooperation with the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the UK National Contact Point for the BRITE-EURAM programme.

The event is aimed at giving participants the latest information on industrial technologies research in the Fifth Framework Programme. The main topics to be covered include:

- The overall structure of the Fifth Framework Programme and its adoption;
- The thematic programme covering industrial materials and technologies research - the key actions and research areas to be covered;
- The horizontal programme covering innovation and support for SMEs.

There will also be a round table discussion at which delegates will discuss key issues relating to the Fifth Framework Programme. The seminar will provide important information to organizations planning to take part in the Fifth Framework Programme. Through gaining an early understanding of the Programme, researchers will be able to start developing proposal ideas and building transnational consortia in advance of the first calls for proposals.
