The 6th European Congress on Biotechnology (ECB6) is to be held in Firenze on 13-17 June 1993, providing a forum for the presentation of results and the exchange of ideas on European scientific developments and biotechnology applications. The aim of ECB6 is also to stimulate the attention of European Governments with regard to one of the most promising new industrial sectors, and to create a platform to foster development of the infrastructures required to take full advantage of biotechnology in a global European economy. Organized on behalf of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), the Congress will consider advances in basic science (from genetic and protein engineering to industrial microorganisms and biocomputing) as well as their applications, and socioeconomic issues (including training, EEC programmes in biotechnology, policies for development, science parks, safety, intellectual property, public perception and communication).Full details of registration, and of the submission of papers, are available from:
