The 12th International Symposium on Computer Science for Environmental Protection will take place in Bremen, Germany, on 16-18 September 1998. The symposium, organized by the University of Bremen and the German Computer Society, will focus on the general theme of "Networked structures in information technology, the environment and business".

In addition to debating the significance of computer science to the field of environmental protection and sustainable development, particular emphasis will be placed on illustrating how information technology is actually implemented and its future potential in this field. The following topics will be given special attention:

- Intelligent methods in environmental applications;
- Information technology for health and environmental protection;
- Information technology for corporate strategies of environmental protection.
