The second international conference on "Advanced microsystems for automotive applications" will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 26 and 27 March 1998. The event is organized by VDI/VDE Technologiezentrum Informationstechnik GmbH, the North German Innovation Relay Centre.

Microsystems are an important factor for success in the automobile industry. They are becoming indispensable both to fulfil customers' needs for safety, convenience and economy, and to satisfy environmental requirements. The conference will address a wide range of microsystem applications, such as sensors for engine management, exhaust and air quality control, immobilizers, ABS (anti-lock brakes), anti-skid and vehicle dynamics control, adaptive cruise control, smart airbag systems and other safety applications including obstacle detection and vision enhancement.

The conference will provide a platform for discussions on all microsystems-related components for automotive applications. The main topics will be:

- Systems for intelligent passenger protection;
- Electronic vision systems for driver support;
- Intelligent power-train.
