Six tools for tackling long-term unemployment

A European seminar entitled "Six tools for tackling long-term unemployment" will be held in Luxembourg, on 19 and 20 March 1998. The event is organized by E2I Consultants in collaboration with EGLEI, with the support of the European Commission, DG V. The seminar is targeted at representatives of European, national or local authorities and other organizations working in the field of employment, training and local development.

The seminar centres around the theme of six towns of six European Union countries and six agencies which are currently implementing global strategies for the professional integration of marginalized people into the labour markets. The agencies involved are:

- Drumchapel Opportunities, Glasgow, UK;
- Lan Ekintza SA, Bilbao, Spain;
- Henneberg Duus Consult, Denmark;
- Association Gagner, Roubaix, France;
- Forderwerk eV, Bremen, Germany;
- Action Sociale pour Jeunes, Luxembourg.

Six types of tools and methods have been put into practice by one or other of the agencies, and have been modelled then transferred in part or in whole among the six agencies.

The event, through a series of round tables and workshops, offers the opportunity for participants to:

- Meet and exchange ideas with the six experimenting agencies;
- Make use of the tried and tested modelled tools and methods;
- Enrich their own practices and contribute to the tools and methods presented;
- Join the European network of local structures working towards the integration of excluded people into the labour market.
