The European Commission, DG XIII, and the Deutsches Institut für Normung are jointly organizing a seminar to celebrate the launch of the DIN 2345 "Translation Contracts" standard. The seminar will be held in Luxembourg on 30 March 1998, in the framework of the EU's Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme.

The aim of the seminar is to explore the implications of DIN 2345 for the European translation sector. The issues to be discussed include:

- Quality issues in translation;
- DIN 2345: the consensus reached among the German translation industry;
- Other relevant initiatives;
- The challenge of quality standards;
- DIN 2345 and the European dimension.
