The Euratom Safeguards Directorate of the European Commission has published an invitation to tender concerning radioisotope contamination measures. The invitation to tender concerns contamination control of the technical equipment used in Euratom Safeguard inspections (nuclear inspection). Although this equipment is inspected where it is used, a further inspection (with possible cleaning) takes place on its return to Luxembourg. The absence of contamination is then certified. This is done by combining direct measures (radiation) with indirect measures (wipe test). These activities are mainly carried out by Safeguard personnel. However, this notice aims at strengthening this service on a case-by-case basis (times of influx of work, holiday periods, etc.). The need for such services is estimated to be a maximum of 60 days per year.
