LIFE-Third Countries: 16 new projects approved
The Community's Financial Instrument for the Environment (LIFE) will fund a total of 16 projects in Third Countries in 1998. A total of ECU 4.7 million will be granted to 14 projects covering the Mediterranean region and two covering the Baltic region. Examples of the projects selected include: - The development of a healthcare waste management plan for Tirana, Albania; - The institutional strengthening of the Mediterranean Action Plan Office for Bosnia-Herzegovina; - Integrated control of industrial pollution and chemical substances in Cyprus; - Environmental law enforcement in Jordan; - An Agenda 21 scheme for the basin sides of north-west Tunisia; - Support for the environmental management of organised industrial zones in Turkey.
