A report on progress made with COST Action C1 on polymeric composite structures has recently been published. The project, funded within the cooperation in scientific and technical research initiative (COST), aims to review the design, testing, analysis and application of polymeric composite connections. The particular emphasis of the project is on the connections between members made of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP), and the report also contains an overview of connections between fibre reinforced plastics and conventional structural materials. The report is intended for all those interested in FRPs in construction. Its purpose is not only to provide background information and practical advice on connections, but also to demonstrate the major role which FRPs will play in future construction projects. It covers a wide range of connection types and is divided into the following chapters: - Plate-to-plate mechanics: analysis and design; - Plate-to-plate mechanics: testing and applications; - Frame connections; - Anchorage systems; - Bonded connections; - FRP connections with other materials; - Bond of FRP rebars to concrete; - Design guidance.
