The economic and technical assessment of measures to reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds from seagoing ships during their loading and unloading, is now the subject of an open invitation to tender, published by the European Commission, DG XI. VOCs emitted to the atmosphere contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone which can damage both human and animal health. The aim of the study is to identify measures to reduce this hazard, and assess their economic and technical feasibility. A contract of 10 months will be concluded with the contractor.
