The European Commission, Directorate General XIII, has recently published an invitation to tender to prepare the activities of a follow-up programme to the current INFO2000 initiative. INFO2000 aims to stimulate developments in the European multimedia content industry and to encourage the use of multimedia content in the emerging Information Society. INFO2000 is scheduled to finish at the end of 1999. The tender, as well as suggesting follow-ups to INFO2000, should also include an evaluation of the impact of the programme on the market place. The tender consists of two lots: - Lot 1: commercial exploitation of Europe's public sector information; - Lot 2: export potential and linguistic customisation of digital content products and services.
