Alzheimer Europe awarded consultative status by Council of Europe
The Council of Europe has recently awarded Alzheimer Europe consultative status as an international organisation. This allows the organisation to be informed and consulted on important developments at European level. The new status will help Alzheimer Europe to participate in debates on the Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine, which are of particular relevance to people with dementia and their carers. The Convention also ties in with the work carried out by Alzheimer Europe in the framework of its Lawnet project which involves establishing an inventory of European legislation of importance to people with dementia. The relevance and impact of these changes is detailed in the latest edition of the organisation's latest newsletter. This includes reports on important recent findings in dementia research, as well as a summary of the proceedings of the first Alzheimer Europe Forum, held in March.
