The European Commission's DG XI wants to know how genetically modified organisms (GMOs) impact human health and the environment and is calling for tenders for a study to map the risks. The study should aim to collect and analyse information on the risks associated with the release and consumption of GMOs and products derived from them, in both the short- and long-term. The study should also consider the existing methods for evaluating risks, focusing on European and US initiatives and should provide information on risks under investigation. A review of research activities that can contribute to the identification of any potential risks should also be included. The study will also present specific strategies for potential long-term problems associated with the release and consumption of GMOs. The study is divided into two lots: - Impact on the environment; - Impact on human health.
