Support services for scientific informatics will be required by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre who will issue an invitation to tender before the end of 1999. The JRC wishes to conclude framework contracts for the provision of certain service categories in support of its scientific informatics tools and infrastructure. Services are to be delivered to JRCs in Brussels (Belgium), Geel (Belgium), Ispra (Italy), Karlsruhe (Germany), Petten (Holland) and Seville (Spain). The requested services are divided in three categories. The first concerns platform systems support (servers, workstations, peripherals and networks) for a maximum estimated expenditure of 5,600,000 euros. The second is for information systems support (development, maintenance and operation) for a maximum estimated expenditure of 7,400,000 euros. Finally the third contract will cover multi-vendor hardware systems maintenance (computers and peripherals) for a maximum estimated expenditure of 550,000 euros.
