Council adopts common position on the third phase of LIFE
The Council of the European Union has now adopted a common position on the financial support for the third phase of the LIFE financial instrument for the environment (2000 to 2004). The LIFE instrument is aimed at contributing to the implementation, updating and development of EU environment policy and of environmental legislation, particularly the integration of environmental considerations into other policies, and sustainable development in the Community. The third phase of LIFE will continue with the three thematic components, currently in place. These are LIFE-Environment, LIFE-Nature and LIFE-Third countries.
