Towards a harmonised environmental policy in the NIS - prior information
The European Commission will soon call for tenders for a study to cover the development of pilot projects, policy guidance and support to governments and non-governmental organisations in the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union (NIS). It covers environmental policy in the former Soviet Union from the perspective of the approximation as outlined in the partnership and cooperation agreements signed with most of the NIS. It includes links to harmonisation of the environmental acquis, implementation of legislation, funding mechanisms for environmental management and improvement, the state of the environment and environmental reporting and awareness raising among stakeholders.
