The Research Directorate-General of the European Commission has announced it will shortly issue an invitation to tender for the training of CRAFT (Cooperative Research Action for Technology) project coordinators, intermediaries, project technical assistants and monitors. The CRAFT funding scheme encourages companies with little or no in-house research and technological development (RTD) capability to sub-contract the research they need to a specialist. The European Commission may fund up to half the costs. The contract will be divided into two lots, one for the training of CRAFT project coordinators, and the other for the project completion monitoring of RTD projects for small and medium sized enterprises. The estimated value of the contract is 2.2 million euro and award procedures will begin in the second quarter of 2000.
