Two Council Regulations modify the budgetary procedures and annual financial provisions of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP). These modifications affect only technical and legal aspects of the financial management of the Centre and in no way alter its aims or objectives. CEDEFOP, established in 1975, aims to assist the Commission in encouraging, at Community level, the promotion and development of vocational training and of in-service training. To this end, within the framework of the guidelines laid down by the Community, it contributes through its scientific and technical activities, to the implementation of a common training policy. In particular, it encourages the exchange of information and the comparison of experience. The main tasks of the Centre are: - To compile selected documentation relating to the present situation, the latest developments and research; - To contribute to the development and coordination of research in the above fields; - To disseminate all useful documentation and information; - To encourage and support initiatives likely to facilitate a concerted approach to vocational training problems (in particular the problem of the approximation of standards with a view to the mutual recognition of certificates and other documents attesting completion of vocational training; - To provide a forum for all those concerned. In attaining its objectives, the Centre may in particular: Organize courses and seminars; conclude study contracts and commission or, where necessary, carry out pilot projects or individual projects to assist the implementation of the Centre's work programme. The Centre is administered by a Management Board composed of members representing the Governments of the Member States, the employers' professional organizations, the employees' trade union organizations, and the Commission of the European Communities. Council Regulation 1946/93/EEC of 30.6.1993 amending the Regulation establishing a European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (337/75/EEC), updates the budgetary procedure of the Centre (the legal procedure for giving a discharge to the Management Board with regard to the annual budget). At the same time, the Regulation sets out the modified composition of the Management Board (now made up of 39 members) and lays down rules concerning the submission of the annual general report on the activities, financial situation and future guidelines of the Centre, as well as its expenditure accounts, analysis of financial management and the balance sheet. Published in the same edition of the Official Journal, a further Council Regulation (1948/93/EEC of 30.6.1993) amending the Council Regulation on the financial provisions applying to the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (1416/76/EEC), updates several technical aspects of the financial provisions.
