The European Commission, DG XII, has published a report entitled "Scientific Cooperation of the European Union with Third Mediterranean Countries". The publication includes a list of all projects carried out under the STD, ISC and AVICENNE programmes which covered scientific cooperation with the non-EU parts of the Mediterranean basin. The European Community launched, in 1982 the Scientific and Technology STD 1, which had two successors (STD 2 and STD 3) which covered the period 1982-1994. All STD programmes applied a thematic approach and focuses on he fields of agriculture and health. Under the AVCIENNE programme with pre-defined research themes but geographically targeted towards the Mediterranean. Regionally targeted work in this is continued under the specific programme of cooperation with third countries and international organizations (INCO). The publication covers the objectives, activities and expected outcome of the projects.
