The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an ongoing call for proposals under its specific programme for the dissemination and optimization of research and technological development, including demonstration (1994-1998), otherwise known as the INNOVATION programme. The call concerns European networks and services. Organizations eligible to participate in the programme are invited to submit proposals for the incorporation of the European dimension into the strategy of networks and services acting in technology diffusion and innovation promotion, allowing dissemination, beyond national frontiers, of the effective methods they have developed and applied. Proposals submitted should aim, at European level, to: - Provide improved services to SMEs through the experimentation, and ensuing promotion, of cooperation between professions and service providers which have not yet developed a habit of working together; - Spread good practices concerning successful national or regional support initiatives in the area of innovation and technology transfer for SMEs (e.g. temporary placement of researchers and engineers into SMEs and technology transfer organizations, organization of enterprise visits, etc.); - Support transnational cooperation between national or regional networks promoting innovation and technology transfer towards SMEs. Community financial assistance is available in order to facilitate the participation of organizations in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union countries. Further details regarding the participation of non-member countries are given in the information package. Detailed information concerning the work programme, the procedure to follow for the submission of proposals (information package) and the standard contract that will be established in respect of selected proposals are available on request from the Commission's services. All correspondence relating to this call (indicating clearly the reference "European Networks and Services") should be sent to: European Commission DG XIII - Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research DG XIII/D/4 Jean Monnet Building (B4/087B) L-2920 Luxembourg Fax +352-4301-34544
