The European Commission, DG VII, has published an invitation to tender for the completion of a study on the transport infrastructure requirements of six western Mediterranean countries (France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia). The study will carry out a diagnosis of the current situation by identifying and establishing an inventory of the scheduled priority transport projects currently being studied, or on the point of being initiated and carried out. These road, rail, sea, air and multimodal transport projects must be linked to European and North African networks, including their interconnections, by specifying their cost and modes of financing as well as the technical and financial difficulties encountered for their execution. This diagnosis will cover: - Evaluation of the current situation; - Discovering reasons for deficiencies related to the current situation; - The general action policies to be implemented in order to palliate existing deficiencies. The diagnosis will cover the following three stages: - Setting-up of a statistical base; - Evaluation of economic aggregates, exchanges and their assessment over time; - Definition of infrastructure requirements at a regional level. The necessary tender documents may be requested from: European Commission DG VII - Transport Mr. Nicholas Cendrowicz Division VII/A-1 200 rue de la Loi (BU33 4/25) B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2963687; Fax +32-2-2969632 Telex: COMEU B 21877 Telegraphic address: COMEUR Brussels Completed tenders must be sent to: European Commission DG VII - Transport Archives 200 rue de la Loi (BU33) B-1049 Brussels
