The European Commission, DG XI, has launched an open call to tender for a study relating to the restoration of areas affected by lasting radiation exposure, caused by a past or old practice or work activity. The aim of the study is to identify a common flexible approach to the setting of appropriate reference levels, in terms of doses to workers and to members of the public, and other parameters relevant to the decision-making process, with regard to the restoration of areas affected by lasting radiation exposure as a result of a past practice or work activity. The results of the investigation should be laid down in a working document, outlining an approach and criteria which could serve as a common basis for a wide range of restoration issues in further discussion in the group of experts established under Article 31 of the Euratom Treaty. The contractor will provide the Commission with a report in English, ready for publication, which takes the views of the group of experts into account. The final report should be presented to the Commission at the latest 18 months after signature of the contract. Organizations or companies will be selected only if they possess technical and administrative competence in the field as well as appropriate references. Requests for tender documents, and completed tenders, should be sent to: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Mr. B. Sinnott Unit A/2 - Budget, finances and contracts 200 rue de la Loi (TRMF 04/87) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2994449
