The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for a study on the interface of the European Union and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in the context of international frequency coordination. The purpose of the study is: - Firstly, to provide a comprehensive overview of the structure and functions of the ITU and assess the decision-making process at WRCs in terms of government and industrial preparation and participation, and political and economic interests at stake; - Secondly, to analyse the extent to which the new ITU structure has an impact upon the European preparation for, and negotiation at, WRCs. The study should provide recommendations to the European Commission, European industry and the European Radiocommunications Committee (ERC), as well as to EU Member States, as to how to most effectively pursue its interest in the ITU and the WRCs. Requests for the terms of reference for the study, and completed tenders, may be submitted to: European Commission DG XIII - Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research Directorate A Ms. Alison Birkett 200 rue de la Loi (BU31 3/58) B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2968342/2968209; Fax +32-2-2968393
