The Japanese government runs a programme to introduce business managers of companies interested in exporting to Japan, but with little or no experience in the Japanese market, to Japanese business culture. The Export to Japan Study Programme (EJSP) is managed and financed by the Japan External Trade Organization. European companies are being offered places in the programme, through the European Commission, in the framework of the EU/Japan Trade Cooperation Programme. The programme which lasts nine days, and is conducted in English, introduces participants to business culture in Japan through meetings, presentations and field trips. In addition, managers will learn about the export opportunities in their sector. Each programme gives priority to a specific industrial sector. The next programme in the series will take place from 5 to 13 March 1997 and will concentrate on the medical equipment and healthcare products sectors. Other programmes may be held in different sectors.
