BIOTECH Training Grants - Information
The European Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Biotechnology (BIOTECH) funds a number of research training grants for researchers to undertake specific research projects in the field of biotechnology in a laboratory in an EU Member State or Associated Country other than their own. Information about the application procedures for these grants is now available on the World Wide Web. The training grants are available for four categories of researcher: - Senior level: post-doctoral researchers, aged under 35, with a minimum of three published papers in international journals; - Junior level: post-graduate researchers, with no more than four years subsequent experience, and at least one published paper; - Established researchers: researchers with at least eight years' full-time post-graduate research experience; - Return grants: allows researchers from less-favoured regions to continue research, carried out under a BIOTECH training grant, in their own region. Applications for grants, which may last between six and 24 months, or three to 12 months for established researchers, may be submitted at any time. They will be evaluated in batches, three times a year, following the deadlines of 1 March, 1 July and 1 November. The final deadline in the current BIOTECH programme will be 1 July 1998.
