The European Commission's Educational Multimedia Task Force has launched a joint call for proposals for projects in the field of educational multimedia. The call involves the following specific RTD programmes of the European Community: - The Telematics Applications programme; - The Information Technologies (ESPRIT) programme; - The Targeted Socio-economic Research (TSER) programme. The call also involves the SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI programmes in the field of education and vocational training and the "Guidelines for the development of Trans-European ISDN networks (Integrated Services Digital Network)" programme. The call will implement a number of the initiatives in the Commission's action plan "Learning in the Information Society", published in autumn 1996, and follows on from the work of the Educational Multimedia Task Force. The indicative budget for each programme is as follows: - Telematics Applications: ECU 12 million; - Information Technologies (ESPRIT): ECU 7 million; - Targeted Socio-economic Research (TSER): ECU 2 million; - SOCRATES: ECU 3 million; - LEONARDO DA VINCI: ECU 3 million; - TEN-Telecom (EURO-ISDN): ECU 3 million. Detailed descriptions of the work to be undertaken are provided in the common work programme which may be obtained from the Commission. It is also available on the World Wide Web. Information relating to the procedure for submission of proposals may be found in the Information Package, also available from the Commission. A two-stage procedure will operate for the submission of proposals for this call. Pre-proposals should be submitted for preliminary evaluation. Full proposals should only be submitted by those successful in the preliminary evaluation.
