The European Commission, DG XI, has published an open invitation to tender (Ref. XI.D.1/SER/97 0019) relating to the preparation of a summary of the implementation of urban wastewater treatment implementation programmes, pursuant to Article 17 of the Community's urban wastewater treatment Directive (Directive 91/172/EEC). The contractor will be required to prepare, for each Member State, a summary of elements concerning transposition into national law and implementation of Directive 91/271/EEC. This will involve carrying out a detailed analysis and evaluation of the information contained in the implementation programmes and in the files available at the Commission. The contractor will present, in the form of a summary, a comparison of the data, analyses and evaluations carried out for each Member State. This summary will comprise a text with graphic and cartographic illustrations which facilitate comprehension of the comparison. Tenderers must demonstrate that they have the necessary experience and record in the field of water research, as well as a knowledge of the different aspects of collection and treatment of urban wastewater. They must also demonstrate that they possess an in-depth knowledge of the urban wastewater treatment Directive.
