The Work Programme for the Community's Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme is now available on the World Wide Web. The programme, which started in 1996, aims to support the development of new Information Society tools and products in all the languages of the European Union. The programme supports projects in three action lines, as well as accompanying measures, each of which is outlined in the Work Programme: - Supporting the creation of a framework of services for European language resources; - Encouraging the use of language technologies, resources and standards; - Promoting the use of advanced language tools in the Community and Member States' public sectors. The programme will have a budget of ECU 15 million for the period 1996 to 1999.
