The Commission of the European Communities has made a recommendation on 27 June 1990 on the reduction of chlorofluorocarbons used by the Community's refrigeration industry. This industry shall limit the use of fully halogenated chlorofluorocarbons used as refrigerants in refrigeration with a view to phasing them out by the end of the century. The consumption shall be reduced by 25% by the end of 1991 and by 50% by the end of 1993 with respect to the 1986 consumption. Member States shall ensure that the aims of the recommendation are achieved by contributions from their respective territories.
