The European Commission, DG X, has published two calls for proposals relating to the transnational distribution of European films and the networking of distributors, within the framework of the MEDIA programme. The first call, for selective support for the transnational distribution of European films and networking of European distributors, is aimed at companies contributing to the objectives of the programme. These are: boosting the European film distribution sector; encouraging transnational distribution of European films and networking among operators; and supporting linguistic diversity of audiovisual and cinema works. Companies interested in responding to this call should obtain the publication "Guidelines for the submission of proposals to obtain Community financial support" from the Commission. The second call is in respect of a new system of automatic support, which is to be introduced for a two-year experimental period. This system will comprise support for European distributors in proportion to ticket sales achieved by European films outside their national territory. Companies interested in responding to this call should obtain the necessary documents and application forms from the Commission. Requests for documentation concerning both these calls should be sent, in writing or by fax, to: European Commission DG X - Information, communication, culture and audiovisual media Mr. Jacques Delmoly Head of Unit D/4 200 rue de la Loi (L-102 7/023) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2999214
