The European Commission, DG XII, has published two calls for proposals under the Environment and Climate specific RTD programme. The two calls concern Theme 3 - Space techniques applied to environmental monitoring and research - of the Environment and Climate Work Programme: - The first call invites proposals for RTD activities in Area 3.2 - Research and development work for future operational activities; - The second call is for proposals in Area 3.3 - Centre for Earth Observation. Projects will, in general, be carried out as shared cost actions. Some financial support may be available to assist entities from the Central and Eastern European countries, the former Soviet Union and developing countries to participate in the programme. Details of possibilities are contained in the Information Package. A pre-checking service will be established in order that proposers can check that their proposals are in line with the programme's objectives and comply with the eligibility criteria before formally submitting them. This service will close on 10 September 1997. Proposers should ensure that they obtain the up-to-date Information Package, Work Programme and application forms before preparing their proposals. In addition separate supporting documents for each call have been prepared, and these may also be obtained from the Commission. All correspondence relating to these calls, including proposals, should be sent to: European Commission DG XII - Science, research and development Environment and Climate programme - Directorate D 200 rue de la Loi (SDME) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2960588 E-mail: research@ec.europa.eu Documentation relating to the calls may be found in the Document Library section of the CORDIS WWW server, at: http://cordis.europa.eu/
