The European Commission, DG VIII, has published a call for expressions of interest for a service contracts relating to the EC's regional HIV/AIDS programme in Latin and Central America. Within the framework of the EC's regional HIV/AIDS programme in Latin and Central America, the Commission envisages a technical assistance contract responsible for supporting a public health research programme on epidemiological, economic, and political and social aspects of the HIV epidemic in Latin and Central America which form part of the SIDALAC regional initiative. The activities laid down in this contract consist of support towards the development of research drafts, the follow-up of these studies and analysis of the results from these studies. The technical assistant should have the profile of an expert in public health with university training in the medical, social and economic field. He/she should have at least 15 years' experience, including five years in the area of HIV/AIDS. Knowledge of Spanish and other languages (EN, FR) is also among the selection criteria for this technical assistance. The estimated initial duration of the contract will be two years, with a budget of ECU 400,000. The post will be based in Mexico, with the possibility of carrying out short-term assignments in the region.
