The Commission of the European Communities proposes to enter into a study contract on cost benefit evaluation of European environmental policy-making (1992-2000) to be executed for a period of one year starting September 1992. The study will entail detailed evaluation of costs and benefits of the implementation of current and planned legislation and other policy initiatives in the environment field. Emphasis will be on a sectoral approach (industry, energy, transport, agriculture, tourism). Cost estimates will include both micro- and macro-economic evaluation levels. Economic and environmental benefits from intensified policy measures will need to be quantified. Environmental benefits will have to be expressed in monetary terms to the extent feasible. An overall assessment of the performance of EC environmental policy with respect to sustainable development is also required.Detailed information on the tender may be obtained from: Commission of the European Communities Directorate-General for the Environment, Nuclear Safety and Civil Protection DG XI/C-3 Attn.
