Health and safety awareness campaign for SMEs
As part of the SAFE (Safety Actions for Europe) programme, the European Commission has decided to use the expertise of the Euro Info Centres network to raise awareness among SMEs of the concepts of health, safety and hygiene on the work site. Most events during the campaign will take place in the third week of October 1997 - "European Week for Health and Safety on the Work Site". The aim of the campaign is to help European SMEs to understand better the different specifications in questions of health and safety on the work site by presenting them in the realistic environment of a model host enterprise. Every EIC will organize a SAFE event for the SMEs in its area. This will involve a demonstration, in one or several local enterprises, of good practice in the area of health and safety and hygiene. The events will be organized in partnership with appropriate local authorities and social partners, and will be publicized through local media. Around 150 events, to be held throughout the EU, are planned for the current campaign.
