Standards, Measurements and Testing - Examples of Successful projects
The European Commission, DG XII, has published a set of fact sheets describing successful research projects in the field of Standards, Measurements and Testing (SMT). In fields such as medicine and health, environment, agriculture and foods, and industrial processes, research into new standards and testing processes supported by the Community contributes to improving the quality of life. The projects will bring benefits to ordinary people, through improving health or in their working environment. The fact sheets outline the successes of the individual research projects. However, cooperative research projects funded by the EU serve to build up partnerships which will outlast the initial project. Through this process, Community research will contribute to the establishment of a genuine European scientific community, which will ensure Europe's continuing competitiveness.
