The European Commission, DG XXII, has published an invitation to tender relating to the monitoring of pilot European projects for "Second-opportunity schools". The European Community is intending to set up, in close collaboration with the governments concerned, a series of experimental pilot projects aimed at reintegrating young people with no qualifications, particularly those in positions of social exclusion (i.e. unemployed). A certain number of towns have been selected as sites on which these "Second-opportunity schools" are to be established. The characteristics of each school will depend, to a large extent, on requirements and conditions at local and national levels. Nonetheless, key elements of these projects will include the creation of partnerships at local level and the application of new teaching approaches, including the use of new technologies. The present call is aimed at selecting an individual or organization to become responsible for the monitoring and assistance of schools in France, Spain, Germany, Finland, Portugal, The Netherlands, Denmark and Greece. The relevant tender documents may be requested from: European Commission DG XXII - Education, training and youth Unit XXII/A-1 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2992231
