Development of design methodologies for thermal management and scavenge / sealing interactions in future ventless UltraFan bearing chambers
This proposal is aimed at understanding design rules & methodologies required to facilitate the use of low pressure and temperature bearing chamber environments and sealing systems. The proposal will determine the most appropriate method(s) to manage local brg chamber temperatures and to understand scavenge and sealing system interactions in bearing chambers that are not vented. Design criterion and methodologies will be developed that will enable the realisation of robust thermal management and bearing chamber sealing in future ventless UltraFan bearing chambers.
