Objective
CyberMnanS addresses the research area of IST-NMP1 joint call in which the aim is the development of: "Integrating Technologies for Fast and Flexible Manufacturing enterprise".
The target of the project is to provide an exhaustive set of methods and instruments to support an innovative approach to the organization of flexible production, in agreement with emerging standards related to ergonomic and safety regulation of workplaces, while being compatible with efficient production. To achieve the objective a rethinking of production methods is required. The set of methods and instruments include, comprehensive methodology for work activity evaluation, related data base and ergonomic criteria, based on application of virtual reality and sw simulation as well as advanced tool for assisted work in production environment.
Flexible manufacturing is strictly linked to the increasing of manual work (because reduction of specific investment costs, faster decision process and faster/simpler training of people, compared to the hard automation) but automation is still necessary for fast production concept, (when task repetition is high, when high precision is required, where task implies high force level).
The border line between a choice concerning the fully manual workstation and hard automated island is represented by cooperation between robots and workers. This aspects can be satisfied only by development of intelligent work assistant devices (IWAD) based on sophisticated mechatronic design and cybernetic approach. Introduction of innovative devices imply modification of production methods and modification of procedures for process production planning.
These variables have to be considered in design phase of production processes, to meet efficiency and ergonomic requirements. The aim of this project is to make available appropriate methodologies and innovative tool (IWAD) to carry out work activity in more efficient, safe and ergonomic way.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
