Objective
InAmI will develop a new eCollaborative platform, based on Agent, Ambient Intelligence (AmI) and Semantic Based Knowledge Management (SBKM) technologies, to create and optimise different services for management of complex Assembly and Manufacturing Systems (AMS), with special emphasis on Automation and Robotics, over the whole production-cycle.
The project will explore how a combination of advanced Agent, AmI and SBKM technologies can be used to assure an improved collaborative use of industrial installations over the production-cycle. InAmI will specifically contribute to optimise the whole production-cycle of AMS and its products, as it will provide a platform for radically improved collaborative services (e.g. reconfiguration of AMS, problem solving, intelligent monitoring etc.). The project will focus on the paradigm of eCollaboration, defined as collaboration among individuals engaged in a common task using electronic technologies, to provide services supporting the access to relevant knowledge/information through a common interface for different agents along the production process.
The objective is to optimise costs for development and operation of different collaborative services and, by this, influence operational costs and improve availability, reliability and safety of an AMS, as well as generate new knowledge needed to continuously improve/innovate an AMS and its products in a dynamic work environment and improve reconfiguration/monitoring of new lines. An optimal product/production-cycle management on AMS can only be achieved if based on a tight collaboration strategy between installation/equipment vendors and end-users (extended enterprise concept) with a permanent sharing of knowledge among them.
InAmI aims to provide a technical and organisational basis for a highly organised and customisable experience and knowledge management system accessible to a dynamic and multi-disciplinary community collaborating in a virtual and/or distributed environment.
